Duties

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports fingerprint and palm print identification through structured training, guided practice, and direct system interaction. The work involves learning established procedures, assisting with comparisons, and maintaining accurate records. As a Fingerprint Technician Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
  • Training Participation: Attend formal sessions and workshops to develop fingerprint identification skills
  • Print Processing: Assist with reviewing and processing fingerprints and palm prints submitted by agencies
  • Image Comparison: Support side-by-side comparisons of original prints to possible system matches
  • Quality Review: Check print clarity and prepare prints that meet standards for system entry
  • Record Integrity: Help perform corrective actions in the system to ensure accurate print records
  • File Maintenance: Organize and maintain electronic and hardcopy fingerprint files

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience;
  • -OR-
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • You must obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
