The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an Evidence Technician (civilian position) to collect and process evidence related to crimes. The Evidence Technician has a variety of critical responsibilities and administrative duties. These responsibilities include maintaining the evidentiary chain of custody and integrity of evidence and property. Under general supervision this position will receive, record, account for, store, safeguard, collect, load, transport, verify, release and disburse evidence, and found or abandoned property. This position maintains separate property areas and performs work as required. A significant degree of initiative, independent judgement, discretion and confidentiality is paramount. All duties and tasks are expected to be performed in an attentive, effective, efficient and safe manner.
Work is generally completed on a regularly scheduled basis; the normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week. This position may require after hour call back in order to assist with evidence storage, occasional travel may be required for training.
