The purpose of this classification is to collect and process evidence at crime scenes and in a laboratory environment, examining fingerprints, taking and developing photographs and performing other functions to assist others in identifying and prosecuting offenders.
Although subject to change, a typical work week is Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, 10-hour shifts. Employees may request a traditional 8-hour shift, five days a week. Crime Scene Technicians will be required to adjust their schedules for operational and agency needs. This may include working nights, weekends and holidays. Crime Scene Technicians work an on-call schedule as needed.
