Position is responsible for providing technical support to the laboratory by the preparation of reagents; biological waste management; supply ordering and inventory control; evidence transportation; initial sexual assault kit processing, case outsourcing; and analysis request triage using the applicable computer database. The Forensic Laboratory Technician is guided in judgment by Laboratory Policy and Standard Operating Procedures. Must have the ability to make detailed notes describing the receiving and processing of evidence. Must know all tenets of applicable law and must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision. Incumbent must exercise independent judgment in the performance of their duties. Must understand overall laboratory operations and safety procedures, proper reporting of accidents, and the ability to learn new skills to accommodate changes in techniques. Position reports to the Forensic Scientist Supervisor.
