Salary: $61,387.00 Annually

Hours of work: Four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day), Monday through Thursday either 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-6:00pm.

Duties

Under administrative direction, the responsibilities of this position may include forensic examinations on computers, cellular phones, computer networks and related electronic storage media. Work includes collection, processing, preservation, analysis and presentation of computer related evidence, including, but not limited to data retrieval, breaking passwords, and finding hidden or otherwise “invisible” information. This position report to Police Sergeant or designee.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience practicing digital forensic examinations for a law enforcement agency.
  • Associate’s degree in computer science, public administration, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license throughout employment without any restrictions that affect job performance.
Applicants must not have:
  • Felony convictions;
  • Driver's license suspensions within five (5) years of the date of this application;
  • Steroid usage within three (3) years of the date of this application;
  • Visible tattoos above the collarbone on the neck, face, head, scalp or on the hands;
  • Used any illegal controlled substances within three (3) years of the date of this application with the exception of marijuana.
  • All applicants must not have used marijuana or cannabis in any form within one (1) year of the date of this application.
  • Used any tobacco products within six (6) months of the date of this application.
  • Failed a Town of Davie Background Investigation, Oral Board Interview, Polygraph or Psychological Exam within the past year.
  • Been dishonorably discharged from the military.
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of the digital media and devices including but not limited to computers, mobile devices, external storage media, third party data sources, and loT devices preferably in a criminal justice or similar law enforcement environment.
  • Knowledge of chain of custody and the uniqueness of digital evidence.
  • Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to obtain and process forensic evidence into a format that can be used for legal purposes.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide courtroom testimony.
