Digital Forensics Analyst

Salary: $41.61 - $46.23 Hourly

Provides Forensic Digital Imaging and Analysis support to the Police Department in both a laboratory and field setting, collects and analyzes digital evidence of all forms, provides testimony in court as to their findings, and other duties as assigned.

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts Cell Phone Examinations, including physical and logical retrievals, utilizing mobile forensic examination tools, such as Cellebrite, as well as various digital evidence examination tools, such as Forensic Tool Kit (FTK) and Axiom.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of cell phone forensic examination tools.
  • Works directly with vendors and users of different surveillance video systems to allow for the download of video footage for evidence purposes.
  • Utilizes expertise in imaging analysis to enhance forensic images.
  • Conducts digital evidence examinations of various and sundry digital evidence media, including but not limited to digital cameras, Apple products, and a myriad of digital memory storage devices.
  • Creates photo lineups and provides training on the creation of photo lineups.
  • Uses and maintains computers and hardware including scanners and printers.
  • Uses a variety of imaging and image analysis software to produce, enhance and reproduce forensic images.
  • Utilizes a variety of conventional processes and techniques to produce, enhance and reproduce forensic images.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with investigative procedures.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, high level of professional credibility and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively perform as part of a team, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information
  • Ability to deal with irate individuals and the criminal element in the immediate work environment.
  • Must be able to drive to crime scenes, suppliers and service providers and other locations as required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a polygraph examination, oral board interview, hair follicle drug screen, credit check and background investigation.
  • Requires regular and prompt attendance.
Technological Skills
  • Proficient in redactions through evidence.com.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft based applications such as Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Technical proficiency in Windows systems, old and current, and Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Evidence.com, DVR Examiner, and Input Ace.
  • Technical proficiency in Color Management and Image Analysis software, FFT, etc.
  • Knowledge of computer file storage media (solid state memory, memory cards, etc.)
  • Technical proficiency in all areas of digital imaging, including mobile forensic tools and computer forensics is preferred.
  • State of the art knowledge and technical proficiency in videography, advanced photography, and use of digital cameras and peripheral equipment.
Education and Experience
  • Education: Associate degree in a technology related field.
  • Experience: Three or more years of technical work experience. Education and experience should have an emphasis on digital imaging or photography. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish speaking) preferred.
Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training
  • Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Cellebrite certification preferred.
  • Leva certification preferred.
