Duties

  • In this position, you will participate in a structured serology training program designed to develop knowledge, understanding, and technical skills related to physiological fluid analysis, hair identification, report preparation, and courtroom testimony.
  • While working under a laboratory supervisor, you will perform serological testing on evidence submitted to the laboratory for the detection, identification, and characterization of blood, semen, and other biological fluids.
  • After testing, a report is prepared and submitted to the requesting agency that states the results of the examination.
  • As a trainee, you will learn how to prepare accurate and concise reports that will be suitable for courtroom presentation.
  • Additionally, you will maintain complete and accurate documentation of all testing and results in the case file.
  • As you progress in your training, your work will be performed with increasing independence.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, forensic science, or a closely related physical or natural science, which includes or is supplemented by 16 college credits in chemistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
