A Fingerprint Examiner is responsible for analyzing and comparing fingerprints to identify individuals involved in criminal investigations. They use specialized equipment and techniques to collect, preserve, and analyze fingerprint evidence. They work closely with law enforcement agencies to provide accurate and reliable fingerprint identification, assisting in solving crimes and providing expert testimony in court proceedings. Additionally, they may also assist in the development of fingerprint databases and the training of other forensic professionals.

Duties

Position Summary
  • Positive identification division is to identify all arrestees accurately and positively, with fingerprints, and to ensure all arrest information pertains to the arrestees being processed through the Arrest Processing Center.
  • Fingerprint Examination
  • Fingerprint Card Maintenance
  • Fingerprint Classification
  • Court Ordered Expungements
  • Verification of DNA Blood Samples
  • Processing of juvenile fingerprint cards, processing unknown deceased fingerprints
  • Faxing and emailing mugshots
  • Assisting public with stolen identity cases
  • Court testimony
  • Provide timely customer service to the entire Criminal Justice System and public at large

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience, associate degree or two-year technical certificate or a combination of relevant education and relevant experience. Licenses and Certifications: Science of Fingerprints Certification, SBI AFIS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
** Candidates who qualify for an interview will be tested in the accuracy of latent print identifications and fingerprint pattern recognition. Candidates must pass the test to be qualified for this position. **
