Forensic Technician

Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, Cocoa or Rockledge, Florida

Salary: $24.01 hourly

Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Medical Examiner's Office. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Duties

  • Performs experienced technical work assisting the Medical Examiner in conducting autopsies and performing forensic procedures to determine the legal and medical causes of death.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Two (2) years of experience in a medical laboratory, autopsy room, hospital ward, mortuary, or a closely related field.
  • Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work irregular schedules including planned and unplanned overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Work is performed under adverse conditions and involves exposure to odors, fumes, hazardous chemicals, bodily fluids and tissues, and infectious diseases.
  • In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
