Police Property Evidence Manager

Salary: $43,224.00 - $47,654.00 Annually

The primary function of an employee in this class is to, under general supervision, perform complex and highly responsible duties in the receiving, processing, storing, safeguarding, and properly disposing of items of evidence, found property, and items held for safekeeping. Duties

They are intended to be accurate summaries of what the job classification involves and what is required to perform it. Employees are responsible for all other duties as assigned.
  • Receives, logs, inventories, stores, and releases items of evidence, found property, or safekeeping items.
  • Tags, marks, properly packages and/or secures property, evidence, and other sensitive material to assure precise identification and to preserve material for future use.
  • Monitors and controls the distribution of evidence and property to users to assure that material is used only by authorized personnel.
  • Maintains complex filing systems with a variety of subject matter to provide easy access to records with little direction from supervisor.
  • Makes routine arithmetic calculations.
  • Performs data and bar code entry into bar code system.
  • Processes and transports items of evidence to and from Department of Public Safety Property and Evidence facility.
  • Prepares and destroys items of evidence as authorized.
  • Prepares and destroys abandoned and found property in accordance with City ordinances.
  • Transports destroyed items to proper disposal facility.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures.
  • Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows City-wide safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; and
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years' experience in property accountability, warehousing, police work or related field.
