The City of Irvine seeks a passionate and motivated individual for the Extended Part-time Property & Evidence Specialist I position. The position of the Property & Evidence Specialist I requires administrative and technical duties associated with receiving incoming property, including evidence.

This position is Extended Part-time with a schedule requirement of 32 hours per week.

Duties

  • Protect the integrity of evidence through proper storage, security, preservation of its condition, and lawful release or disposal of property or evidence.
  • Maintain documentation of the process that meets the requirements for chain of custody records and is sufficiently accurate and complete to satisfy any court that has reason to examine the process.
  • Safe handling and secure storage for high risk and/or dangerous items such as firearms, narcotics, hazardous materials and flammable and perishable items.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of evidence.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
  • Associate degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field with at least one (1) year experience in law enforcement activities, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Requires a valid Class C California driver license.
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires lifting 12-20 pounds on a daily basis and 20-50 pounds on a weekly basis.
