A Property Evidence Technician for the Lakewood Police Department is a safety sensitive position, exercising a high degree of accuracy, discretion, trust and confidence. The primary functions of this position are to receive, record, secure and store property and evidence as well as record and document the chain of custody of all property and evidence. Additional responsibilities include assisting Agents and Detectives with investigative requests and answering internal and external customer inquiries over the telephone, front counter and property release window. Transports evidence to/from laboratories and court, prepares and conducts evidence views with investigators and attorneys, maintains inventory of property and evidence, and performs relocation and release and destruction of property and evidence in accordance with law, policies and procedures.
