Sr. Forensic Quality Assurance Manager

Salary: $100,505.60 - $104,520.00 Annually

Duties

This includes:
  • Leading internal and external audits with accrediting bodies;
  • Providing necessary training to laboratory staff on policy and procedures;
  • Monitor and interpreting quality assurance activities necessary for the successful functioning of the laboratory services;
  • Generating documents; and maintaining standards.
  • Perform a variety of other technical tasks, relative to the assigned area(s) of responsibility;
  • Maintain communications within the Scientific Evidence Division (SED) on any issues;
  • Participate in the more complex and difficult work required within the assigned area(s) of responsibility.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in forensic science, chemistry, biology, a physical science or related field; -AND-
  • Five (5) years of laboratory experience.
  • Program management or program oversight experience is preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
  • Operations, services, procedures and activities of a forensic laboratory
  • Principles and practices of laboratory management and supervision
  • The Organization of Scientific Area Committees (OSAC) standards
  • Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
  • Advanced laboratory techniques, procedures and principles
  • Methods and techniques of forensic evidence collection and evaluation
  • Rules of evidence, criminal court proceedings, and proper safety procedures
  • Operation of forensic instruments, equipment and tools
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
  • Computers and various programs and data bases

  • Develop and track long range plans
  • Organize and review the work of staff in the area of work assigned
  • Interpret, explain and enforce department policies and procedures
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Prepare complex technical written and verbal reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

  • Communicate clearly and concisely in person and in writing
  • Assemble and present data that is in compliance with established guidelines
  • Organize and track complex information to maintain accurate records and files
