Coroner Investigator Student Intern

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division, San Bernardino California

San Bernardino County's Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division, is offering an exciting internship opportunity for students to explore the investigation process for cases falling under their jurisdiction.

This is an unpaid opportunity with great exposure to the County! Students must be enrolled at one of the following colleges or universities:
  • California Baptist University
  • California State University of Fullerton
  • California State University of San Bernardino
  • California State University, San Marcos
  • Cal Poly Pomona
  • Chaffey College
  • Claremont Graduate University
  • Crafton Hills College
  • Maryville University
  • Occidental College
  • University of California, Riverside (UCR)
  • San Bernardino Valley College
  • Victor Valley College

Student intern positions are temporary positions and do not obtain status as a regular County employee.

Duties

Students Will Learn How To:
  • Determine the cause of death.
  • Determine if an autopsy should be performed.
  • Collect and protect the decedent’s property and observe how relatives are notified.
  • Assist with investigations and autopsy reports.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, Computer Forensics or Forensic Psychology

Requirements

Background:
  • Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation.

  • Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Desired Qualifications
  • Students majoring in forensic pathology, or a similar field of study are encouraged to apply for this internship.
