DNA Analyst I

Salary: $65,569.00 Annually

Final Filing Date: Continuous

Entry level professional and technical work managing forensic analysis of physical evidence from criminal cases and/or convicted offender DNA samples. Work includes performing all aspects of forensic DNA laboratory casework on evidentiary materials, including serology, and the evaluation and preparation of evidence, DNA typing, interpretation of analytical results, and preparation of case reports; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university with a major in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Nine (9) semester hours of college course work that must have included all of the following areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and either: statistics or population genetics. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE NEW ORLEANS CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF APPLICATION.
