The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principles of community, safety, service to fill the position of Crime Scene Investigator. Starting salary $22.44 per hour.

Duties

Position Duties:
  • Evaluate and collect evidence at crime scene.
  • Request laboratory work.
  • Construct forensics art/sketches.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Assist investigators as needed.
Position Requirements:
  • Ability to interpret law and ordinances of the State and County with particular reference to rules of evidence and courtroom demeanor.
  • Knowledge of techniques germane to investigations, research, planning, organization, evaluation, and problem recognition.
  • Knowledge of forensic science.
  • Experience and/or training in a criminal investigation setting required.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time.
  • Ability to test-fire handguns and rifles.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be able to type 30 correct words per minute.
  • Minimum Wonderlic score of 18, OPAC score of 80%.
  • Collier County residency preferred (requires quick response to scene).
  • Requires on-call availability.
  • Requires shift work.
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience and training.
