Duties

Essential Job Functions
  • Receives, documents and disseminates property and evidence in and out of the facility; maintaining strict control of all incoming evidence and property acquired by the police department.
  • Responds to general inquiries and requests for release of property; responsible for the storage, transportation and transfer of evidence while ensuring the chain of custody and integrity of the property is maintained.
  • Ensures the physical security of all property and evidence maintained by the unit; performs regular auditing of records, money, weapons, narcotics and their associated procedures.
  • Receives, stores, processes, stores and disposes of all evidence and property to protect the chain of custody and ensure that property is returned to owners in compliance with both state standards and SCMPD policy.
  • Maintains and uses property and evidence tracking programs to document all aspects of the property and evidence retained and disposed of by SCMPD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, or Computer Forensics

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; and at least two (2) years experience in general office and database management, inventory control or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Work Location: 78 Ross Rd Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday
Additional Requirements
  • Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
