Forensic Quality Manager

We are looking for a Forensic Quality Manager to join the City of Charleston's Police Department! In this role, you will manage the quality assurance program for the Forensic Services Division and maintain ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation.

Duties

Examples of Duties
  • Supervise, evaluate and train the Laboratory Technician.
  • Responsible for LIMS administration in the absence of Laboratory Technician.
  • Ensure that the Forensic Services Division is in compliance with the ANAB accreditation program.
  • Ensure that the Forensic Services Division operates according to the procedures established in the quality manual, procedure manual and training manuals.
  • Ensure that new methods and protocols are properly developed, tested and validated for use on casework.
  • Investigate all complaints, problems, and corrective/preventative action regarding the management system in the Forensic Services Division.
  • Maintain the inventory and maintenance of equipment, hardware, software, chemicals and reference material used in the Forensic Services Division.
  • Maintain the training records for Forensic Services Division personnel.
  • Perform regular quality checks and annual quality audits of the operations of the Forensic Services Division.
  • Administer the proficiency testing for the Forensic Services Division.
  • Serve as the Safety Officer for the Forensic Services Division.
  • Seek opportunities to improve the effectiveness of Forensic Services Division operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Earn a Degree in Crime Scene Investigation, Forensic Science, Computer Forensics or Forensic Psychology

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of ISO 17025 and best practices in quality assurance
  • Familiarity with the ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation standards and processes
  • General knowledge of the disciplines practiced in the Forensic Services Division
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and 2 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or training in ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation program.
