DNA Analyst III

Salary: $84,062.00 Annually

Final Filing Date: Continuous

Lead level, professional, technical and some supervisory work managing forensic analysis of physical evidence from criminal cases and/or convicted offender DNA samples. Work includes independently planning and performing advanced scientific and technical analysis including the most complex and difficult of examinations requiring extensive knowledge and high skill levels. Work may include the supervision and/or training of other personnel; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university with a major in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related scientific field.
Twelve (12) semester hours of college course work that must have included all of the following areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology and either: statistics or population genetics. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE NEW ORLEANS CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF APPLICATION.
Three (3) years of full-time professional forensic human DNA experience.

NOTE:

A Master's Degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field may be substituted for (1) year of professional experience; a PH.D in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field may be substituted for two (2) years of professional experience.
Civil Service reserves the right to determine which degrees are considered closely related.
