Salary: $66,076.00 - $88,549.00 Annually

Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of complex specialized and technical non-sworn forensic investigative duties within the Police Department by recording, collecting, analyzing, and processing evidence in order to establish links between suspects and crimes. The scope of work for this position includes the full range of forensic investigative duties, with limited guidance and direction from higher-level employees. A strong commitment to public service and the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion are critical for the position coupled with the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
This is the journey-level class in the Forensic Investigator series. Incumbents at this level perform the full range of forensic investigative duties, with limited guidance and direction from higher-level employees. Forensic Investigators are expected to become proficient in all aspects of the job, ranging from manual and automated examination of latent fingerprints to the full range of functions performed in a forensic laboratory as well as the broad range of duties performed in relation to crime scene investigation.
