  • Advanced technical and administrative duties involved in the collecting, documenting, and preserving of evidence at a crime scene; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School graduation or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education.
  • Sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university with at least twelve credit hours in Criminal Justice, Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science, or a closely related scientific field. Official transcripts must be presented to the New Orleans Civil Service Department within two (2) weeks of application.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Five (5) years of full-time experience in crime scene investigation.
  • Note: Additional crime scene investigator experience may substitute for the required college credit at the rate of one (1) year of related experience equals 30 hours (one year) of college credits.
