Summit County, located in Utah, is seeking a full-time Evidence Technician. Performs as property custodian and manages the operation of the evidence room and coordinates the disposition of seized and recovered property. Maintains the preservation of evidence. Works under the general supervision of the Detective Sergeant or Lieutenant while in training or on a case-by-case basis. May supervise Sheriff's Office interns on a case-by-case basis.

  • Maintains records of property and asset seizure resources and prepare the reports as required by state law.
  • Serves as equipment maintenance supervisor; responsible for maintenance, upkeep and periodic operations of Sheriff's Office equipment including: the Mobile Command Post, the SERT vehicle, various generators and operating pieces of equipment. Performs preventive maintenance on this equipment. Maintains and periodically service the various pieces of electronic equipment such as videotape cameras and recording equipment at the Sheriff's Office. Assists with the repair and maintenance of office equipment that does not fall under the responsibilities of Facilities Maintenance or Information Technology.
  • Maintains inventory of items in property storage and do periodic cleaning and maintenance of those storage facilities. Buy office supplies, track expenses and otherwise provide upkeep for the Sheriff's Office supply room. Serves as the delivery and pick up representative for equipment supplies and other items as directed by supervisors.
  • Assists firing range officers in the upkeep and maintenance of the range and associated equipment. Assists the firearms officer with the cleaning, inventory and storage of department weapons, the armory and the FATS training facilities.
  • Coordinates and arranges for the sale of surplus property with the Auditor=s Office. Transport and destroy controlled substance as set by state law.
  • Organizes and coordinates the cleaning and maintenance assignments that the Sheriff's Office interns will be responsible for. Provides cleaning and maintenance services for those areas of restricted access that the cleaning people cannot enter. Provides transportation support for the logistical support of a remote command post or other unique deployment situations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Must be able to perform as a credible witness in a court of law.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent; AND
  • No experience necessary some law enforcement knowledge preferred.
  • Must be a United State Citizen.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • This is a civilian position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work various days of the week.
  • Must be able to work on-call 24 hours per day.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
