The Forensic Evidence Supervisor manages a team of detail-oriented forensic evidence technicians that support the Department of Public Safety's forensic laboratory bureau and forensic scientists, who utilize scientific principles to support or negate theories surrounding physical evidence found at a crime scene. The Evidence Supervisor has a variety of critical responsibilities and administrative duties within the property and evidence functions, including maintaining the evidentiary chain of custody and integrity of evidence and property.
The Supervisor is responsible for quality assurance, development and implementation of inspection activities, the detection and resolution of problems, and the delivery of satisfactory outcomes associated with the receipt of evidence, which includes recording, accounting for, storing, safeguarding, collecting, verifying, releasing and disbursing evidence to laboratory clients and staff. A significant degree of initiative, independent judgment, discretion and confidentiality is paramount. All duties and tasks are expected to be performed in an attentive, effective, efficient and safe manner.
