The Sheriff's Office is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy for a CAL ID Program Manager position.

As a CAL ID Coordinator / Fingerprint Analyst, you will work in the Sheriff’s Crime Lab where you will be involved in the operation and utilization of the CAL ID fingerprinting system to assure accurate identification and tracking of individuals arrested in the county. In this role, you will participate in performing ten-print and latent print examination, comparisons, and identifications, as well as prepare detailed and concise crime reports concerning the fingerprint findings.

In addition to your CAL ID duties you will assist Forensic Specialists as needed with tasks related to the collection, preservation, and analysis of evidence. These tasks may include crime scene photography and mapping, using digital cameras and FARO scanners, latent print development, collection of biological evidence, trace evidence collection and excavation of possible gravesites. You may be tasked with DNA analysis using ANDE Rapid DNA equipment. You will be involved in the operation and maintenance of lab equipment.

Duties:

About the Position
  • As a CAL ID Coordinator / Fingerprint Analyst, you will work in the Sheriff’s Crime Lab where you will be involved in the operation and utilization of the CAL ID fingerprinting system to assure accurate identification and tracking of individuals arrested in the county. In this role, you will participate in performing ten-print and latent print examination, comparisons, and identifications, as well as prepare detailed and concise crime reports concerning the fingerprint findings.
  • As the CAL ID Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Department of Justice, County administrators, staff and outside agencies to develop and implement projects, policies, and procedures related to the CAL ID program. This position will work closely with the Sheriff’s IT/Automation division to assure smooth and efficient systems operations. In this role, you will be involved in reviewing and evaluating the program’s budget and operating costs, and estimating equipment, supplies, and requirements for system operation.
  • In this position you will perform professional, technical, and analytical work involved in researching, compiling, and disseminating program related data and other related information. You will perform systematic and analytical processes directed at providing pertinent information relative to crime patterns to assist operational and administrative personnel in planning resources. In addition, you will support reporting and forecasting needs of the department.

The Ideal Candidate
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • In addition incumbents in this role will possess the ability to monitor, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding program enhancement and modification; support and follow departmental policies, goals, guiding principles, and mission; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships both inside and outside the Sheriff's Office.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in a program related field. (Job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
  • In addition, two years performing supervisory, administrative, analytical or fiscal work in a program related field AND one year of experience equivalent to Program Manager I.
