The Purpose of this Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) DNA Analyst, is to work solely with the sexual assault kits the Department of Public Safety has to process. The SAKI DNA Analyst serves as a specialist in an area of expertise/scientific discipline and are responsible for identifying and analyzing physical evidence related to their specialization that is collected from criminal investigations.
This Forensic Scientist, will support the New Mexico law enforcement community solely in the investigation of the sexual assault kits in custody; preparing reports to document their findings; providing expert opinions in their scientific specialization to investigators; and provide expert witness testimony regarding their findings in a court of law. The selected candidate will be responsible for independently identifying and analyzing biological matter and/or DNA evidence related to the sexual assault kits investigations.
