Salary: $3,144.00 - $4,083.00 Monthly

The Property and Evidence Custodian provides customer service, receiving physical evidence into the laboratory and releasing back to the submitting agency and records management at the Toxicology Laboratory.

Duties:

Duties Include:
  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing administrative support to laboratory staff and toxicologists, screening requests, assigning case numbers and creating case files, entering evidence into a computerized database, storing evidence appropriately, releasing and receiving evidence to/from forensic scientists, disposing of evidence as required per procedures, and maintaining case files and all evidence transaction records.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Understand and follow applicable laws, regulations, and other standards to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain and properly utilize personal protective equipment as required by training and or division/district policy/procedure.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities with close attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly and with courtesy when working under strict deadlines, demonstrating a strong commitment to the highest quality of customer service possible.
  • Must be willing and able to handle biological evidence and lift up to 50 pounds.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Three years experience in a law enforcement agency in the collection, preservation, safeguarding and disposal of evidence and property
  • OR
  • Two years of full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer.
