Salary: $49,324.16 - $56,721.54 Annually

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Crime Laboratory Forensic Scientist 1 – Toxicology Unit shall be directly accountable to the MNPD Crime Laboratory Forensic Scientist Supervisor – Toxicology Unit for the performance of forensic entry-level professional and analytical work under close supervision.

Typical Duties
  • Completes training program.
  • May perform casework.
  • Participates in quality assurance/quality control measures.
  • Performs administrative duties.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Interacts with the judicial system.
  • Interacts with the community.
  • Performs other duties required for the good of the department and the community.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science or a related field.
  • No substitution.
  • Valid Driver License
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of related laboratory instrumentation, computer software, calibration, validation, quality control, safety, accreditation, proficiency testing, and training
  • Knowledge of international forensic laboratory accreditation standards
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
