The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principle of community, safety, service to fill the position of Experienced Latent Print Examiner. Starting salary $19.87 per hour.

Examples of Duties:
  • Evaluate prints for comparative quality.
  • Perform tasks in the AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) to include, but not limited to, database entries, comparisons, evaluations, quality control, verifications and maintenance.
  • Perform friction ridge comparisons.
  • Provide latent print technical assistance to crime scene investigators.
  • Prepare court exhibits.
  • Assist detectives as needed.
  • Provide expert testimony in depositions and open court.
  • Enter data into computer system.
  • Maintain electronic and paper files.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Requirements:
  • Knowledge of print characteristics.
  • Pass a pattern recognition test.
  • Pass a visual acuity test.
  • Ability to interpret law and ordinances of the State and County with particular reference to rules of evidence and courtroom demeanor.
  • Knowledge of techniques relevant to investigations, research, planning, organization, evaluation and problem recognition.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to attend specialized training courses in friction ridge analysis.
