  • Forensic Digital Evidence Specialists are responsible for retrieving video evidence from crime scenes, processing and analyzing surveillance video to further investigations, entering audio, photographic, and video material into a digital evidence database, and scanning legacy photographic formats for still and digital images.
Duties also include, but are not limited to:
  • Processing requests for law enforcement and criminal justice entities.
  • Copying digital evidence to CDs and DVDs.
  • Transferring digital media to hard drives or portable drives all while maintaining proper evidentiary chain of custody protocols.


  • Three years of professional experience with digital photography and photo and video editing suites.
  • The ability to perceive the full range of the color spectrum.
  • Some positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business.
  • The ability to work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust; walk for prolonged periods, which may include rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders up to 10-20 feet.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Experience troubleshooting with network and digital video recorders.
  • Experience using film and print scanning device.
  • Experience using digital records management systems, e.g., Xtender.
  • Experience using iNPUT-ACE, Amped Five, BriefCam.
