Salary: $29,344.38 per year

Duties:

  • Assist in the analysis of diverse items of physical evidence.
  • This includes the utilization of highly technical processes for detecting and preserving latent prints; including chemical, mechanical, and photographic.
  • Prepare reagents, maintain section equipment and logbooks, and perform various quality control checks.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor or advanced degree in physical, biological or forensic science from an accredited college or university;
  • OR
  • A non-science degree with the completion of at least 12 credit hours in physical or biological science-related coursework graded at a ā€œCā€ or better and a minimum of two years professional experience in an accredited forensic laboratory.
  • International Association for Identification (IAI) certification may substitute for the required college education.
  • Professional experience in either an accredited forensic laboratory or an accredited law enforcement agency in the Friction Ridge discipline may substitute on a year for year basis for the required college education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of terminology and techniques used in the forensic laboratory.
  • Skill in the preparation of reagents and the use of scientific laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of the procedure for packaging, handling and preserving evidence.
  • Ability to give sworn testimony in court.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
