Computer Forensics Examiner

Salary: $73,908.00 - $96,912.00 Annually

This career opportunity is for someone that will use their substantial knowledge in computer forensics to create and implement our entire forensic investigation program within the public assistance state-wide technology unit of DSHS. You will work independently most of the time and we are open to negotiating a flexible work schedule with you.

Some of what you will be doing
  • Serve as the forensic data acquisition point of contact for this very large, state-wide business unit
  • Develop and implement security processes with a focus on IT forensics
  • Acquire and preserve evidence from employee hardware
  • Analyze collected data, investigate cases, and present findings to management and legal entities
  • Support the IT Security Team in state and federal audits and address findings
  • Keep current on IT security trends and identify future IT forensic security solutions that address our higher risk areas


What we are looking for
  • Four years of IT forensic data collection work experience, which includes knowledge of IT security standards and ITIL functions
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain one of the following IT Forensics Certifications within 12 months of hire:
    • GIAC – Forensic Examiner (GCFE)
    • GIAC - Forensic Analyst (GCFA)
    • ISC2 – Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP)
  • Seven additional years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in IT analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases*
  • *Combinations of degree and experience will substitute for the additional seven years of IT experience
  • IT Project Management
  • Compliance experience in a regulated environment such as HIPPA, PHI, and PII
  • Familiarity with the National Institute of Standards and Technology Risk Management Framework or other NIST standards
