Duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Testify and present evidence in court hearings.
  • Package, store, and retrieve evidence for the Enid Police Department.
  • Submit evidence to officers and supervisors for court use.
  • Provide evidence records and copies of documentary evidence in response to subpoenas.
  • Return evidence to rightful owners when no longer needed for court.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
  • The Police Department runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Evidence is promptly retrieved in response to officer request and/or subpoenas.
  • Evidence is well maintained, organized, and easily retrieved.
  • Effective working relations exist with City personnel.
  • Management is appropriately informed.
  • Employee understands and adheres to applicable safety policies.
  • The City’s professional reputation is maintained.

Requirements:

DUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:
  • Property Room Management Course (within 1 year).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Law and Government — Knowledge of laws regarding disposing of evidence, legal codes, court procedures, and government regulations.
  • Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Computer- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity to include development of spreadsheets, formulas, record tracking applications, word processing, graphics, etc.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Good communications and public relations abilities.
  • Proficient typing and computer application skills.
  • Ability to assist and support others.
  • Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines.
