Duties:

Forensic Scientist 1 - Quality Assurance
  • Will be familiar with and aware of work completed and analysis performed in the laboratory sections.
  • Will successfully complete quality assurance training under the guidance of the Director of Quality Assurance. Appropriate training will be completed before assuming duties within the Quality Assurance Office.
  • Will inform the appropriate supervisor of any unusual or unexpected developments that may occur during his/her work day
Forensic Scientist 2 - Quality Assurance
  • Will be proficient in all of the duties of a Forensic Scientist 1 - Quality Assurance.
  • Will be expected to perform appropriate analysis on quality assurance data which is technically of limited complexity utilizing standard established procedures. When standard procedures are not applicable, the Forensic Scientist 2 will discuss alternate or modified methodologies with the Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Will plan and execute a variety of quality assurance functions, including proficiency testing, retesting and maintenance of appropriate quality assurance records as necessary. Resulting data will be interpreted and findings reported for accreditation purposes.
  • Will inform the appropriate supervisor of any unusual or unexpected developments that may occur during his/her duties.
  • Will be expected to maintain and enhance his/her expertise and maintain technical proficiency in the field of quality assurance
Forensic Scientist 3 - Quality Assurance
  • Will be assigned tasks in the more complex quality assurance duties and will exercise considerable independent judgment in evaluating possible alternative methods of compliance with accreditation standards and modify existing methodology to fit each particular standard, subject to approval of the Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Will be proficient in all of the duties of a Forensic Scientist 2 - Quality Assurance.
  • Will interpret data and results derived from quality assurance tasks and report findings and conclusions.
  • Will work with little supervision and will inform the appropriate supervisor of any unusual or unexpected developments that may occur during his/her analysis.
  • Expected to perform troubleshooting tasks within the section.
  • May be required to assume the duties of the Forensic Scientist 4/Quality Assurance in his/her absence.

Requirements:

Forensic Scientist 1 - Quality Assurance
  • Shall have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural, Physical Sciences or Forensic Science.
  • No prior laboratory experience is required.
Forensic Scientist 2 - Quality Assurance
  • Shall have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural Science, Physical Sciences or Forensic Science.
  • AND
  • Have a minimum of 18 month's satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist 1 or its equivalent in another laboratory.
  • AND
  • If applicable, have gained experience in testimony as an expert witness and have established his/her credentials as an expert in various courts of record.
Forensic Scientist 3 - Quality Assurance
  • Shall have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural Science, Physical Sciences or Forensic Science.
  • AND
  • Have a minimum of four year's satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist or its equivalent in another laboratory.
  • AND
  • If applicable, have gained experience in testimony as an expert witness and have established his/her credentials as an expert in various courts of record.
