Property Evidence Supervisor

Duties:

  • Under the direction of the Support Services Captain or designee, is responsible for the supervision of the Property/Evidence personnel and for the coordination of property and evidence functions.
  • Performs skilled technical work in inventory control of evidence in criminal investigations and found property, including large sums of money, firearms, and narcotics.
  • Maintains integrity control of evidence for courtroom presentation.
  • Individual must be bondable.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in receipt, storage, and issuance of property, maintaining property control, data entry, and categorizing records in an electronic data base with at least two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • In lieu of five (5) years property experience at least five (5) years’ total experience within a police agency, coupled with two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Supervisory experience may be waived if the applicant demonstrates an understanding of the fundamentals of effective supervisory practices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Applicants may possess a valid out of state driver's license and obtain the Florida license within 10 days of employment.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony, or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.
  • Must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
  • FCIC/NCIC certification obtained as soon as possible upon employment.
