The Collier County Sheriff's Office is looking for positive, proactive, energetic, enthusiastic individuals that support our core principle of community, safety, service to fill the position of Crime Scene Investigator.

Schedule to be determined. Must be available for on-call assignments. An eligibility list for the position of Crime Scene Investigator will be established through skills testing and oral screening. This list will be valid for twelve (12) months from the date of its posting.

  • Evaluate and collect evidence at crime scene.
  • Request laboratory work.
  • Construct forensics art/sketches.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Assist investigators as needed.


  • Must be able to type 30 correct wpm.
  • Minimum Wonderlic score of 18, OPAC score of 80%.
  • Collier County residency preferred (requires quick response to scene).
  • Requires on-call availability.
  • Requires shiftwork.
  • AS or equivalent experience and training.
  • Ability to interpret law and ordinances of the State and County with particular reference to rules of evidence and courtroom demeanor.
  • Knowledge of techniques germane to investigations, research, planning, organization, evaluation and problem recognition.
  • Knowledge of Agency policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of forensic science.
  • Experience and/or training in a criminal investigation setting required.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time.
