An employee in this class performs the duties of supporting of sworn police officers specifically in Crime Scene investigations.

Duties include
  • The preparation of various reports, measurements, diagrams and documentation.
  • Utilization of police communication equipment and processing crime scenes for latent fingerprints and other physical evidence collection.
  • AFIS entry and Latent fingerprint identification, firearms related shooting reconstruction.
  • Photography, evidence packaging and court testimony.
Incumbents are unarmed civilian employees with no arrest powers.


  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a completion of a two year Crime Scene training certificate program or a crime scene / Forensics degree from an accredited College or University.
  • Ability to operate a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, verifies accuracy of entered data, and makes appropriate corrections.
  • Utilizes word processing and spreadsheet business software applications, answers phone, maintain filing systems and general office duties.
Special Working Conditions:
  • Irregular hours, shift, holiday and weekend work conditions as required.
  • Additional functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, noise variation, fumes, temperature extremes, machinery, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, pathogenic substances, bio hazardous substances, or bright/dim lights.
