  • Coordinates training of new forensic scientists, staff participating in new or modified methodologies and staff in need of remedial training.
  • Recognized as an expert in Forensic DNA. Maintains technical proficiency and awareness of the latest technical advances, section protocols and analyses.
  • Coordinates the development, validation and implementation of new methodologies and/or programs.
  • Provides monitoring of technical QA programs within laboratory system.
  • Assumes the duties of the Supervisor of Forensic Services (DNA) in their absence.
  • Performs any other reasonable assignments or duties as directed by a supervisor.


  • A Bachelor's Degree in areas related to biology, chemistry, forensic science or computer science.
  • AND
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a combination of graduate and undergraduate course work covering the subject areas of biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, as well as statistics and/or population genetics as it applies to forensic DNA analysis.
  • AND
  • A minimum of six years satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist or its equivalent in another forensic laboratory.
  • OR
  • A Master's Degree in areas related to biology, chemistry, forensic science or computer science may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
