To provide professional and efficient service to the citizens of Cumberland County. These duties are performed in accordance with the Constitution of the United States and the State of North Carolina, State Laws, County Ordinances, and the Rules, Regulations and Procedures of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The primary purpose of the Forensic Latent Print Analyst is to examine, evaluate and compare developed crime scene finger, palm and sole prints against known impressions either on hard copy impression cards or by searching through an automated identification system. The NC Forensic Science Act of 2011 requires laboratories performing forensic examinations to be accredited by a recognized laboratory accrediting agency. The CSI/ Forensic Services (FS) section of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) earned the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 laboratory accreditation issued by the ANSI/ASQ National Accreditation Board/ANAB in 2016. Once hired the LPE may be provided a take home vehicle provided the applicant has an acceptable driving record.


In order to be considered for this position you must be a certified Forensic Science Latent Print Examiner with I.A.I. and have a required minimum of a two (2) year degree in Criminal Justice, Criminalistics, Forensic Science, or related field. Two to three years of experience performing technical latent print comparisons and identifications.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Each applicant tendered an offer for employment with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be tested for the use of drugs specified in the county policy. A thorough background check will be conducted and if selected, employee must submit fingerprints.
