Duties:

  • This position will perform forensic analysis of biological samples in criminal and death investigations within an American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) certified laboratory.
  • This position will perform testing for the presence of alcohol, drugs and poisons.
  • Incumbent will prepare legally defensible reports from Gas Chromatography (GC) & Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) and computer reports, and provide factual and/or expert testimony in a court of law when needed.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or closely related field, and two (2) years paid experience in chemical experimentation and analysis in a laboratory setting.
  • Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate.
  • Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) is required.
