Salary: $3,408.35 - $4,836.22 Monthly

Duties: Conducts specialized chemical, microscopic, and instrumental analyses of evidentiary materials to determine the presence of controlled drugs. Interprets analyses of evidentiary materials to determine the presence of controlled drugs and interprets analyses results.

GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Conducts specialized chemical, microscopic and instrumental analyses of evidentiary materials to determine the presence of controlled drugs.
  • Prepare case records, assist in disposal of evidence and may be required to travel to crime scenes to gather evidence.
  • Interprets analyses of evidentiary materials to determine the presence of controlled drugs and interprets analyses results.
  • Keeps case records.
  • Keeps records of evidence and its disposal.
  • Prepares technical reports and testifies in court.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Chemistry (official transcript[s] required).
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of analytical chemistry and instrumentation applicable to criminalistics.
  • Working knowledgeable of instrumental analyses techniques (such as Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry).
  • Full-time work experience in a laboratory utilizing Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry or has completed an internship in a forensic laboratory.
  • Full-time work experience in a forensic laboratory performing analyses of evidentiary materials to determine the presence of controlled drugs or a similar function in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to prepare detailed technical reports, conduct exhaustive complex chemical analyses and present scientific data in an understandable manner to lay juries.
  • Ability to follow established standard operating procedures, have good communication skills and be able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
