Duties: The Monroe County Public Safety Laboratory is seeking applicants for a position to be filled by a Forensic Chemist II/III in the Controlled Substances/Fire Debris Section of its ASCLD-LAB accredited laboratory. Includes the analysis of drug evidence such as marijuana, heroin, cocaine, prescription drugs and the analysis of fire debris. The Forensic Chemist II position differs from Forensic Chemist III position in that it handles more complex examinations and cases, and has increased independence. Having documented competency in fire debris is highly desirable.
Requirements: To meet the minimum qualifications for this recruitment, you must have: A Bachelor's degree from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university in a natural science, a forensic science, an engineering science, toxicology, or criminalistics, including or supplemented by at least twelve (12) semester credit hours or its equivalent in chemistry, plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in a forensic laboratory conducting chemical analysis; positions in Public Safety Laboratory require a state and national criminal history background investigation, which includes a fingerprint check and passing a pre-employment drug test.

If there are an insufficient number of qualified candidates at the Forensic Chemist II level, the County may fill the vacancy at the Forensic Chemist III level and train as necessary.
