Duties: The Dallas County (Texas) is seeking applicants for the position of Autopsy Technician.
Requirements: Qualifications include: graduation from an accredited high school/GED program. One (1) year of work related experience or 15 hours of college or combination of the two. Must possess knowledge of human anatomy; thorough knowledge of standard autopsy room protocols and the ability to follow instructions; the ability to perform repetitive tasks with reduced supervision; skilled in the use of autopsy room equipment such as bone saws, knives and needles; ability to write accurately and legibly; ability to work cooperatively; familiarity with PCS and standard applications; ability to use good safety practices and precautions including the use of personal protective equipment. Must pass an extensive background investigation. The primary work area is an autopsy room, with routine, potential exposure to biological and/or chemical hazards. There is routine exposure to odorous specimens and chemicals and graphic visual situations. Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift bodies, supplies, equipment and other materials up to 50 lbs., unassisted.
