Duties: The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, an ASCLD International, ISO 17025 accredited forensic laboratory, is currently accepting applications and resumes for two (2) Crime Scene Specialist positions. Under limited supervision, this position provides crime scene and investigative support for law enforcement agencies throughout Marion County, at scenes of major crimes against persons (homicides, suicides, sexual assaults, etc.). The successful candidate will assist in developing/implementing crime scene scientific programs; confers with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate work activities at scenes and/or in the laboratory; provide scientific analysis of acquired scene evidence, to include testimony as an expert in court. The candidate also ensures that the total work product meets all appropriate scientific and legal requirements and that quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) methodologies are employed. This is a uniformed position requiring acceptable uniform appearance standards. The individual selected for this position will be subjected to a background investigation and a drug test.

Requirements: The individual should possess at least a high school diploma and a minimum of two years previous experience in handling of physical items that are considered highly confidential (such as evidence), at increasing levels of responsibility. Preference will be given to individuals who possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a natural science or a related field, previous state certified law enforcement or forensic laboratory experience. The salary hiring point will be based on education, certification, and experience.
