Police Field and Evidence Technician Trainee
Santa Rosa, California Police Department

Salary: $3,581 - $4,388 monthly
Salary after training: $4,392 - $5,337 monthly

Duties: Police Field and Evidence Technicians perform a wide variety of nonhazardous field law enforcement work, including: preparing written reports, obtaining statements from victims and witnesses, collecting and preserving physical evidence at crime scenes, photographing and preparing sketches, investigating and documenting traffic accidents.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience working in a heavy public contact position, using oral communication skills to obtain accurate information from a variety of customers and proficient use of basic office software.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated use of good judgment, especially in interpreting and applying laws and policies to a wide range of situations.
  • College coursework or technical training in police science, administration of justice, or evidence collection is desirable.
  • Completion of 12th grade/equivalent.
