Duties: Primary duties include the classification and searching of tenprint cards utilizing the Henry System and investigation of crime scenes. Compares latent prints with known suspect prints for identification purposes; processes physical evidence; processes various items of evidence for latent prints and photographs evidence; prepares comprehensive reports and analysis on crime scene investigations; gives expert witness testimony in court.

Requirements: Experience: At least 4 years of directly related experience, including 2 years experience in classification of fingerprints and in latent print examinations. Experience providing testimony on latent print examinations. AFIS experience is helpful but not required.

Knowledge: Knowledge of appropriate scientific procedures and equipment used in latent print examination; investigative methods and techniques and court testimony; crime scene processing; use of digital photography, as well as 35mm, during day and nighttime settings; use of casting material; use of fluorescents and alternative light source in the photographing of latents; use of various powders in the processing of crime scenes for the developing of latent prints.

Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens; handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; organize and prioritize work; prepare accurate reports; testify effectively; work in any weather condition and under adverse physical circumstances.
