Duties: This is a responsible civilian position assisting sworn officers assigned to the investigation of criminal cases within Durham County. Work involves collection and preservation of physical evidence found at crime scenes; fingerprint processing and analysis; photography; physical evidence examination and analysis in cooperation with sworn officers assigned to the investigation of criminal cases; packaging, preserving, and storing evidence; maintaining the chain of custody; and presenting court testimony as an expert witness in regard to physical evidence. Work is performed under the general supervision of the unit commander on a formal work schedule which includes call-back on a rotating basis.
