Salary: $3,816 - $4,873 per month

Duties: Under general supervision, locates, collects, preserves and processes evidence from crime scenes in order to accurately identify perpetrators; testifies regarding evidentiary procedures at court hearings; and perform related work as required.
Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent, preferably supplemented by at least 12 units of college level course work or training in forensic evidence management, fingerprinting and photography and police science. Some prior experience involving police investigative support or community service work. Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Must be able to work unusual hours including night shifts, extended day hours or weekends.
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of: Current technology and procedures for collecting, interpreting and preserving latent fingerprint evidence; proper methods and procedures for processing imprints, firearm usage, projectiles and trajectory evidence; modern practices and techniques for using video photography and recording equipment. Ability to: Carefully collect, preserve and interpret evidence; prepare sketches or drawings of crime scenes; remain composed while conducting post mortem examinations and when observing severe accident and violent crime scenes; operate a computer terminal to enter, retrieve and update evidence and lab records; communicate effectively with detectives, court representatives, law enforcement agencies and the general public; accurately testify regarding evidence in court proceedings.
